- Broth: experiment with using your own broth and different flavors of broth (vegetable, chicken, curry, shrimp base, etc.)
- You could also use dashi, or even just some miso paste mixed with water.
- Aromatics: Adding a few fresh aromatics, like garlic, ginger, or lemograss, can really add a lot of depth to the flavor of your broth. Mince the garlic and grate the ginger. Sauté both in a little oil for a minute or so before adding your broth to the pot.
- Sauces: Look out for sauces that you can stir into the bowl, like sriracha, chilli in oil, gochujang, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, fish sauce, sambal or even peanut butter.
- Vegetables: Instant ramen is a great way to use up leftover vegetables in your fridge. They add color, flavor, and texture to every bite! (Our favorites are green onion, edamame and baby corn!)
- Protein: Make your bowl a little heartier by adding in some rotisserie chicken, cooked shrimp, a soft boiled egg, sliced tempeh or some tofu.
- Toppers: Add something for texture like sesame seeds, furikake, nori or fried onions!
This way you will be able to quickly and easily enjoy a different dish every time, even if you have 20 identical instant noodle packets in your cupboard!
